Counseling Adolescents About Sexual Health

In this monograph Catherine Stevens-Simon, MD, and Richard L. Street, PhD, review the counseling theories and techniques that are particularly suitable for adolescent patients and offer examples of how to provide them with developmentally appropriate counseling on reproductive health, partner selection, and the prevention of pregnancy and sexually transmitted infections. Drs Stevens-Simon and Street also demonstrate the use of the differential diagnosis for inconsistent contraceptive use (DD-ICU) in a common perplexing diagnostic and therapeutic challenge - the non-contracepting, sexually active young woman who does not want to become pregnant "anytime soon."
